petMaxi, for 8 years, has been nourishing the happiness of dogs and cats through quality brands produced in Portugal.
Located in Ferreira do Zêzere, petMaxi emerged in 2015 with the aim of competing with the major international brands present in the market. Finally, it became possible to do something for the environment by acquiring high-quality Portuguese products with national raw materials, without the need to travel long distances to reach the consumer.
Currently, many of the dog and cat food brands available in the market are produced by petMaxi, including the company's own brands that cover various segments, from economy to super premium, with special emphasis on the latter, with the brand happyOne Mediterraneum.
This brand incorporates a European innovation: the use of fresh eggs in dog and cat food. Eggs are highly biologically valuable and easily digestible, rich in proteins, with all essential amino acids in balanced concentrations and proportions. When used fresh (not dehydrated or frozen), eggs better preserve nutrients and palatability. This food is locally sourced from Ferreira do Zêzere, which is considered the Egg Capital.
This range brought another novelty: it was the first grain-free range produced in Portugal.
This year, petMaxi once again pioneers in the pet industry with the launch of a new, more sustainable product, specifically an insect-based food as the main source of protein.
"We remain focused on adding value to the pet food sector in Portugal and the world, especially to dogs and cats and their owners through nutrition," says CEO and company administrator Luís Guilherme. He adds that "over the next three years, an investment of over 8 million euros is planned for more innovative technology in our country, making the factory even more competitive and sustainable."
Since its inception, petMaxi has sought to be environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable. In this regard, the implementation of ISO 50001 - Energy Management System and 14001 - Environmental Management System is underway to obtain the respective certifications later this year. Over the next two years, packaging materials are being replaced with more sustainable alternatives, and products with additives that do not add nutritional value to pets are being eliminated.
In 2022, petMaxi achieved a turnover of over 40 million euros, representing a 37% increase compared to the previous year.
petMaxi is a 100% Portuguese company located in Ferreira do Zêzere (Santarém), manufacturing food for dogs and cats. Inaugurated on February 13, 2015, petMaxi specializes in the production of all types of pet food, with a strong focus on premium and super premium foods that incorporate fresh ingredients.
